Don't toss your old one - any youth of today can fix it or at least gut and upgrade it with no problem. My son taught me how to do it - but I still feel better when he is coaching me.

I have had router problems for years. The longest I've ever had a router last was 2 years. That was my D-Link 624, super G router. Then it just died. I couldn't get another router to work on my XP Professional system so I was forced to use the wireless roadrunner modem (the router is inside the modem). I went through 5 of them in 2 years, before the wireless just unexpectedly stopped working after 3-4 months. So, I went back to a regular cable modem and bought a Belkin wireless G Router. I threw that router in the garbage after 2 months of constant random resets every day. Last week, I bought a Netgear WGR614 Wireless G router. So far, so good. I had problems setting it up until I used the CD that came with it. Then it took 15 minutes to set up. The key is to use the wired ethernet connection to make any changes. No reboots yet on my Dell 1520 and 1705 laptops (Vista Ultimate). Range is excellent and speed is very good. I just hope it holds. My Nokia Internet Tablet (N800) connects easily to it too. I may at some future point, replace the Intel A/B/G wireless cards with the Intel N wireless cards.

Our HP 6980 wireless printer is also connected and works well.

I've come to like Vista once I disabled all security. I use Kapersky antivirus. I swear by Kapersky.

PS Vonage has proven to be very reliable.
