I too worry about the Islamic faith as it stands now. I've read a large part of the Quran, after 9/11, to find out why they believe the way they do. What worries me most about their religion is that it doesn't leave much room for tolerance of other religions and it places a special emphasis on spreading their faith through the subjugation of people of other faiths. As you said, that is very medieval. Now moderate Muslims will say that's not true, but it says it in the Quran. So maybe they should change the Quran.

Anyway, I'm pretty open-minded for someone with as conservative an upbringing I had, but I'm still deeply skeptical of the ability of the people of Islam to join us in the 21st century. I think they have alot of evolving to do, before they become as tolerant a people as we have become in the US. And as you know, we still have a long way to go too.
