One thing you should think about when slavering over slapping tax rates of 30-40% on rich folks capital gains is that rich folks can arrange their affairs so as not to have capital gains at all or can defer them, spread them out over time, etc to lower their tax bite. Lower capital gains tax rates actually produces higher capital gains income and higher capital gains tax receipts.

If you think about the tax situation of low income folks, they typically pay no income tax, may even have a negative tax rate due to the eitc. They do pay FICA taxes, which even if you count both the employer paid and employee paid pieces add up to a modest percent - not far from the 15% rate on cap gains and dividends btw.

If you want to help out wage earners a little above that level, you should push for lower income taxes. Push up the amounts before the higher brackets kick in.

Wingers are really stupid people. They have a great deal right now with this highly regressive tax system we have. And yet they still complain. I believe a flat tax is coming and oh, the pain the wingers will cry like stuck pigs but it won't matter.

Its very clear you don't care much about fairness, you just want to stick it to people you don't like. Resentment and hate driven tax policy. Great!

Apparently, you think OBama will bring a flat tax, too ... now THAT is stupid.
