david-

yes, per box growth will be good, but no where near what was projected a year ago. things are slowing q to q. will they accelerate again? yes, but likely not heavily for another year. the last major upgrade cycle was 2 years ago, and another should hit in the next year.

you seem to overlook the JIT movement of the industry, which means lower DRAM consumption for another month or so. this is going to impact heavily. AND, with all the new state of the art 64Mb fabs coming online, the short term for MU is bad.

good luck to all,
trey

dg, the SHOCKING thing is that dram asps have hit the skids during the BUSIEST time of the year. they are building and selling dram to go into those boxes RIGHT NOW. they don't do it in december.

DEMAND IS MUCH HIGHER NOW than it will be in december 97 - early 98.

since simple econocmics is for the simple minded, we all know that thinking that demand weakening in this pricing environment is a very bad sign GOING FORWARD FOR 6+ MONTHS is just too simple.

the real affects are waaaaay too complicated to reach any conclusions whatsoever. ;-)

i have my story. i've elucidated it well. i'm sticking to it until proven wrong. my money backs my position.

get ready to call me "lucky." ...again... :-)
