coal prices in china are off of peak spike, but is well above my contract price (125 vs 95) set in june of 2007

shipping price has tanked from 85k per day charter (panamex class) to 6k (yes, 6k) per day, which does not cover cost

i cannot fix long term contract at that number because whichever company one signs the deal with could be bankrupt when the boat is called for, and so we ddo only spot, one load at a time

recommendation: buycoal

morgan stanley was committing to ships at 125/day to back their paper trade back in nov 2007

lots of folks were ordering new boats and paying deposits to china, korea, japan boat yards, and boat yards uin turn hedging steel cost at the high ask, etc etc, all the way up the chain, to brazilian iron mines and german banks (they may finance 80% of ship builds globally)

now, the exlax unwind

should prove messy, or may turn out very messy

but very extremely good for anyone with coal term contract to deliver on :0) and this is what zimthedim was not understanding and cannot be capable to comprehend
