I think the company would certainly differ with your conclusion about ECGOF missing earnings. Two analysts had made quarterly estimates - 25 cents by Cohig and 30 cents by HJ Meyers with a mean of 27.5. Their 28 cents therefore beat the mean estimate by 0.5 cents (that's 40% growth over last years 4th quarter). Although there were obviously some short termers that expected more. The company is "very very comfortable" with 37 cents for the 4th quarter which would be 85% growth in earnings/share despite an increase in the number of shares. Not bad for a company trading at a P/E of 10.6 on 1997 earnings. An announcement is due this week according to IR, so stay tuned. David
