re-introducing the gold standard would be economic suicide. When gold was the medium of exchange few many years ago, when a country needed to expand its economy they just went to war and plundered their neighbor – later it was colonialism and imperialism - this would not be a solution today.

One of the best examples in history is the supremacy of Portugal and Spain who at the time of the great discoveries divided the world between themselves, with Holland Belgium and England etc. following up later. Only Russia today still holds on and exploits their colonies in Siberia
