Cheney's probably taking that conversation to his grave.

I think I disagree about the bailout. I'm glad it was put in to place, and I'm pretty sure I'm better off because of it. I'm pretty sure everyone is. If credit had truly frozen, and if there had been a cascade of bank failures, that would have been a huge problem for all of us- because such chain reactions are not foreseeable- in terms of how great their effects will be.

So the bailout, I think, was for all of us. Not just a few good old boys- I think it really was a rescue of the economy. Sure, we could have taught "them" a lesson, whoever "they" are, but I'm afraid we would have rather quickly found out that "them" is "us".

I don't think anyone should ever have to hear about tax and spend liberals again. Is the latest round of "Borrow and bailout" conservatives supposed to be better?

The fact that there are multiple discredited approaches doesn't elevate any one of them. Tax and spend is still a lousy approach.

I'd love that to be the case, but I don't think they are going to go away or change their minds.
