>>>....and in the end, you have Warren Buffett paying half the rate of his secretary.<<<

I'm not quite sure how Republicans can reconcile themselves with this clear fact of reality?

Is anyone out there on the Republican side who can logically, realistically and sensitively explain this dichotomy?

Do you realize that we have a 32 trillion dollar unfunded liability for medicare to cover the baby boom generation? How much of this MASSIVE BURDEN is being paid by the top 5%?

Effectively NONE.

Effectively quite a lot of it.

The reason why is that as Medicare and SS build up a nominal "trust fund", and then start to draw it down, income tax dollars are used to pay for the services, as the nominal trust fund is drawn down.

In addition to that when you look at the large entitlement programs, you'll find they are not targeted towards the rich. They are either broad based (Social Security, Medicare), or targeted towards the poor (for example Medicaid)

They cancel each other out and in the end, you have Warren Buffett paying half the rate of his secretary.

Warren Buffet almost certainly pays more than his secretary.

Primarily because as part owner of many corporations, he effectively pays taxes when they pay taxes, but even if you exclude that fact he still likely pays more as I show in the posts linked to below
