If you are an American citizen then yes you do.

If you are an American citizen, you are still paying for the War of 1812. Can you tell me how much you paid last year for it?

The Iraq war has been funded by borrowing.

All wars have been funded by borrowing.

The Repugnantkans cut taxes while simultaneously starting/waging the most expensive war in the history of the planet

Thank God they did that, for the war saved the planet, and cutting the taxes saved the country from depression. The lowered taxes are the only thing that has kept the economy from completely failing for the last 5 years. Why would it have failed? The US hasn't been competitive for 15 years. Inflated the cost of its labor so little can be produced here. When little is produced, economies are besieged with chronic depression.

...against a second world country in the middle of the desert

The US didn't wage war against Iraq. Still haven't figured that out yet, boy?

... and they can't even win it.

The US already won the war. We're still there? We're still in Germany and Korea.

OT OT OT

How about if half my net worth is in Canada?

How about if I am effectively short the $USD?

I used to consider myself patriotic but I am having a hard time loving a country that elects GWB twice in a row. My country also wanted to get me killed fighting a war I didn't believe in.

Dying to defeat Germany and Japan in World War II is one thing. Paying taxes so that promising young men can be blown to bits by roadside bombs is another.

Ooops I strayed off the beaten track. I think it may be because two weeks ago I was in a hotel on the Via Rasella, a narrow street that runs uphill, and from our window I could see pockmarks of bullets in nearby buildings. It seems the Nazis had SS troops in Rome in 1944 to make sure the Italians didn't opt out of the war. A batallion of these Germans marched down that street every day and one day some partisans set off a bomb that killed in the end 33 of them. Hitler was enraged and ordered 50 Italians shot for every German killed. Someone reasoned with him and got it cut down to ten. So they rounded up a sort of random collection of 335 men and boys and took them out to a cave and shot them in the back of the head one by one and dynamited the cave. After I learned about that I wanted to be in that war. Even Mussolini was horrified.

I think I already posted this story, but it really got to me.
