Can't immediately explain the PLAB discrepancy, but will attempt to find out. Word I hear is that the real movement in renvenues and earnings for DPMI is still 12+ months away, tied in general to the next generation of semis imaged at .25 and below. This seems to be consistent with the end of product cycle in which INTC is caught right now as well as the enormous ramp-up of DUV photolithography tools seen in CYMI, ASMLF, Canon, and Nikon, as well as DPMI's extremely aggressive capital spending on production facilities. .25 photolith requires many, many more masks than the current .35 method. I think DPMI is positioning itself to be the only reliable high-volume vendor of .25 masks in the market that will begin to emerge in '98. My speculation is that management is focused on that right now and not on trying to sell more masks into the just-about-gone .35 market.

Regards to all,

John

RE: All, why is DPMI dropping at the same time PLAB...

Korean dollar depreciation and monetary turmoil will affect DPMI's operation revenue from Asia.

DPMI's main Asia facility is in Korea.
