Lease rates are high, mints don't get blanks, CBs appear to be hoarding, big meetings starting November 15......my conspiracy-addled mind says that there has been an agreement in principle to return to a modified global gold standard. The lesson that fiat currencies don't work might have finally sunk in.

What happens to the small guy who owns gold under the circumstances?

Are the holders of IAU and GLD rich or poor?

I cannot imagine that the individual holder will get raped like he was when private ownership of Au was prohibited. But he can get screwed.
