You once again miss the point. A lot of men under 30 wisely buy health insurance. Its not about who needs it and who doesn't. Its about freedom to choose how one wants to spend their own money.

It just so happens I've have seen into this a bit more than many people. My wife married her first husband when they were both about 22 and in college. He happened to have taken one quarter off of college because he was working his way through. During that one quarter off, he was diagnosed with a rare muscular cancer (a statistically very unlikely event!). Since he was over 21 and not actually registered for college at the time, he had no coverage either from his parents or the nominal coverage that is required by most colleges (indeed is often or was at the time, part of your school fees). Consequently this young man, who had the freedom to choose to spend his money in other ways (trying to educate himself no less!) died AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE!

So unfortunately you miss the point. Although you might well consider it your right to spend your money how you wish, when you get in trouble, I don't want you spending MY money to cover your stupidity. Which is exactly we car insurance is mandatory.

"Regarding auto insurance you have other choices. Walk. Take the bus. Ride a bike.".

That's not much of a choice for most texans and many other
similar places in USA. ( It's probably more than one would
like )

That option is only available to major metropolitan's WITH
GOOD public transportation and depending on your work/live
needs.
