Millions of acres of crops were burned in an inane and quixotic desire to support crop prices Unrecognized at the time, a monetary contraction left folks without the currency to engage in commercial transactions. Another egregious example was FDR ordering the destruction of six million hogs to support prices - while many were actually starving. And yet the mythology trumps serious analysis.
