I don't know about you, but I don't forget the issues. To me, they are all important. Everything else is hogwash. If he follows through on his promises, then that is what I care about. Obama explained his association with Wright and it made sense to me.

We all know there are plenty of black leaders who are just like Wright and who carry a big chip on their shoulders, like Jessie Jackson, Farakhan, and Sharpton. But today's generation of black folks and our youth are color-blind and don't carry a chip on their shoulder. Obama is the vanguard of that generation and you can plainly see he doesn't interact with everyone the way the older generation used to.

What we're seeing is a generational shift. For many of us older folks, we can't get past our beliefs to see it for what it is. So we ascribe to Obama the failings of our own generation and say that he can't get past the Wrights and Sharptons of his world. But he has and he will continue to bridget that divide. His whole life has been about bridging divides and pressing forward for a completely different model for human interaction.

I'm sorry you don't see that, but I understand why you aren't ready to see it yet.
