Top Taliban commander Mohammad Omar died in an overnight missile strike

If it was Mullah Omar, this really is the best news out of Afghanistan or Pakistan in years.

Omar was the one wedded to al Qaeda. With his death, perhaps an accomodation can be made with the Taliban. I think there is a good chance, particularly with the tribals in the frontier rising up against them.
