Learning the truth can quite freeing.

When there was a black-out in West Hollywood, due to a blown transformer, my Great-Grandmother exclaimed, "What are the Bolsheviks up to now?"

My Mom's Cousin told her he didn't think the Bolsheviks had anything to do with it. To which she replied, "Don't contradict me child, I know far more about these things than you."

In spite of having relocated to America in 1911, she was very traumatized by the communist take-over of Russia and Besarabia. From that point on every evil and inconvenience in the world was caused by Bolsheviks.

That and "Hollywood was a wonderful place until the movies arrived" - which was not strictly true since the 'movies' who worked creating films had been living in Hollywood before she arrived in 1911. But obviously they were in greater numbers later when their vulgar behavior met with her disapproval.
