McCain needs to win left-leaning Florida

Two pieces of information that will help next Tuesday are when polls close in various states and whether there is state legislation constraining when the results can be announced.

Sam -

As I was reading that article about the fierce battle for Florida, I found myself thinking once again that direct, national voting for the President makes a lot more sense.

People who favor the Electoral College consistently argue that small states will get less attention than bigger ones if the EC is abolished. But how much time do we see the candidates spending in places like Montana or Rhode Island right now? None.

This business of strategizing to win Florida by whatever tiny margin in order to get all 27 of the states electoral votes just doesn't seem right to me.
