I see. Is very strange. So far I've sent it to myself at home, with a family members first name. Will watch what else I get if anything.

My thought is it was either based on SI's membership records or possibly g-mail, which I use for personal mail.

It probably came from friends or family. People that know your email address. In the worst case, some web store you have done business with. Why in the world do think SI would single you out of all its members? It is just too silly.

Please forward me a copy of the email if you and ManyMoose both don't mind. bobz@talkzilla.com

I wonder if it's possible to do in a video file the kind of trickery I'd expect possible only from a standalone executable. So I'm curious if I'll see my own name in the video.

There are no ways I know of that your email address and real name as entered in your user record here could ever get out. Possibly your email if it's in your profile and someone's harvesting them (which is attempted from time to time and Dave typically catches them before they get far), but not your name.

Even in advertising emails, the advertisers themselves never come into contact with the email addresses. They're emailed by ADVFN themselves, and ADVFN's email database doesn't contain anything but your email address and your opt-in/out choices.
