Mary, you're right.

Many people see it as a rich versus middle class issue that McCain should lose on, but he's not talking to the westerners or the easterners but rather to the southerners and midwesterners. For those people who feel an underlying unease about the election of a black president this attack has all the pull of the affirmative action and welfare queen attacks.

And that's how McCain Palin are selling it. Note how they say that Obama wants to take money from "working Americans" and give it to those who don't work.

It's odd that you don't hear more clearly from Obama/Biden on this issue. They should, in my opinion, try to address the implications underlying these attacks. Ed

That redux is what I am worried about Mary. I have the same dismal feeling regardless of what the polls are showing.

John and Sarah on MSNBC just now and he makes a very good case for Obama's raisinig taxes and his plan.

He sounds more confident now in the final phase of the race.
