"Do I hear and echo?" "How The World Works" has been reviewing the panics which swept over global markets for centuries. The big one was the Panic of 1873 which led to the Long Depression. I like this quote. The causes of the Depression are debated. The primary cause of the depression was a shortage of available money to facilitate trade. en.wikipedia.org Tim would have loved it. Governments were considered to have no place in regulating economies, so they got boom/bust cycles every decade or two. Imagine how difficult it must have been to accumulate much of anything with the economy melting down on such a short cycle.
