As far as I know, my little granddaughter is gestaltless, but I think she has some sense as to what is fair and what is not when sharing her stuff with her baby sister <g>.

You need to know the culture in order to understand the "reasoning."

I don't think so. You may not be able to relate to it or formulate it on your own, but a thoughtful and well articulated rationale is easy enough to follow no matter how alien.
