I love the idea of gay marriage.

Back in a 1980's election a British comedy team, "Not the 9 O'Clock News" (where Rowan Atkinson started) brought out a lovely parody of various electoral magazines, etc.

One feature IIRC was something like Text-Subtext, where they provide politicians' words and their true meanings. In it was one gloriously funny sentence which has stuck in my mind to this day...

Text: We are supportive of non-traditional family relationships.
Subtext: Not only will we make homosexuality legal, we will make it mandatory

However even at the age of 12 or so I did recognise satire. It is genuinely scary to find people that clearly don't.
