some folks think Diebold and election fraud will be a problem once again in 2008... dailykos.com assuming no fraud... From the polls, we know that Obama would win a fair election by a long shot. Are we so certain that the election, much of which is conducted on notoriously insecure, closed-source voting machines, will be fair? Do we trust Diebold and their ilk? I expect that we'll lose a few states (where we should have won) due to outright fraud. That's why we have to win by a great margin, to compensate for the states Diebold will steal. Be a pessimist. The time for optimism will come later, when we have returned to an open and transparent election system, and those who gave us voting systems that cannot be audited or checked for accuracy are rotting in prison. I am sooooo anxious to see how Obama governs once he is unleashed. I am watching a special on Frontline and it makes clear that we can do nothing about the 45 million tribal folks in Pakistan. No one ever has. Bush has spent our treasury and military on a fruitless quest---at best. Obama has the job of taking a completley crazy idea about every aspect of socieity and make it sensible. Times will really change big time. For the good at last.
