Stevens isn't going to resign, and Alaskans may re-elect him. It seems the old (R) standard, that you be CONVICTED of the crime you were indicted for, no longer applies.

Stevens is laying down the NEW (R) standard, that you be convicted, AND you've exhausted all your appeals! If you haven't been through the whole process, who's to say you're REALLY guilty?

I LOVE these completely awful, disgustingly egotistical (R)'s! They've made Obama president! All the (D)'s have had to do is be somewhat closer to ordinary people. Only the (R)'s could have made a half-black man president in America!

I heard a good joke today:

Blacks used to know there's only two things a black man can't be in America - A white man and president.

Micheal Jackson disproved the first.
Barak Obama disproved the second.

>> Its looking more and more like Alaska will have a Dem senator on 5 November.

It is unimaginable that democrats would call for a Dem to resign under the same circumstances (i.e., when it almost certainly meant giving up a Senate seat). It just wouldn't happen; they'd rather go forward with the stigma of a convicted criminal voting with them than to give up a little power.
