Paying taxes is not a complete negative. That's like saying that purchasing items in a store is a negative because you have to hand over your cash.

People pay taxes in order to get to live in society. Obviously people want to pay as little as possible and get as much as possible in return but that doesn't really work. People may want to steal goods from stores but that doesn't work either.

If paying taxes were a complete negative, we would see people getting out of the system in droves. We don't see that so people accept the costs of living in society which include paying taxes.

The perceived value to individuals is worth the cost.
