I loved how she was held up as a great altruist for giving away all of those cars for free. Of course, she didn't pay for the cars, they were donated and the car manufacturer got some great advertising out of it.

In the movie "Magnificent Obsession" the point is made that for a an act of charity to be purely and act of giving, it should be done as privately as possible and with no expectation or repayment or acknowledgement. Otherwise it is self serving.

So when missionaries go to poor locations and give food, but require listening to a sermon, it isn't charity, it is about recruiting.

And when a celebrity makes a big deal about his/her charitable activities, it is all about self aggrandization.
