Since the gov't would likely go kaput in the event of sustained deflation, it a good bet they will light a bonfire under the inflationary forces. We kind of get screwed if they succeed, or fail. What really matters to me is a) will the inflationary forces get out of control and b) will the dollar crumble. I plan to invest (or divest) based on my reading of the tea leaves in those two departments, primarily. I expect this deflationary downdraft to last up to 9 more months, but probably less. And I fully expect the fuel on the inflation bonfire to go to the wrong places and cause other problems (e.g. as with the banks that received $250 billion to bury in their backyards).
