We can't let that happen. Some of the comments at GWP are excellent, and well thought out.........like this one:Tom W, excellent response. Obama and the far left, like Pelosi who went on bended knee to Syrian Tyrant all prefer the old Status Quo in the Middle East. They would allow Tyrants to rule and oppress Arabs, Kurds, and Persians. Continue to fund terrorism abroad. Well, we know what Statu Quo ends up like. It is what gave us 9/11. We had over 8 years of Status Quo, with the first major hit on our land in NYC; 1993 at WTC. That was the first Terrorist Hit. By our inaction and lack of willpower by American leaders to strike back at full force, we allowed 3000 Americans to die. Our eyes were shut, closed to reality. But we have no more excuses. Not anymore, not today and we should never forget 9/11. OR what it taught us about appeasement to terrorist and tyrants. They see weakness, they plan and attack. They only understand one thing - Strength and overwhelming force. That is why the Surge Strategy worked. General Petraeus not only added more troops, but he went on an offensive drive that was unrelentless and never stopped, chasing the terrorist all the way to Syrian and Iranian borders. Under an Obama or far left watch... 1) Saddam would still be in power a) providing terrorist checks to suicide bombers in Israel b) providing safe haven for terrorist in his own nation c) murdering innocents in his own land, upwards to 300,000 since the first gulf war, including Genocide against the Kurds and hundreds of thousands of children would still be dying simply to malnutrition, disease and water born illness. d) Free of UN restraints because Russia(who was in Iraq and fled to Syria during our invasion), China and all the other nations wanted to stop UN Sanctions due to Saddams Oil for Food Scam. e) Still at war with America and UK no-fly zones. We'd still be maintaining original War posture after he broke all the peace treaties. 2) Syrians would still be in Lebanon today, blowing up people, assassinating leaders, and running their proxy government. As you say, the Middle Eastern Nations, specifically the Sunni nations came together working with Bush for the first time in good measure against these tyrants. They know what Iran is up to and were only to glad to see Syria's plant blown up. They will all be happy to see Israel take out the Iranian complex as well. For the first time, Middle East governments knew they had a serious President in office who would not put up with continued corruption and funding of terrorist around the world. Yes, some hate America... boohooo. They hated us for a long time before 9/11. Many of us just never knew how much until 2001. Obama will blow all this progress away for his grand vision of talks with terrorist and tyrants. He is more at ease talking with them than he is Americans that disagree with his policies. He originally wanted our troops out of Iraq by March of 2008. This would've been a disaster not just for Iraqis, but for the entire region. It would've given safe haven for Al Qaeda to launch attacks into Saudi Arabia. Sunni and Shia would launch an all out war in the region. But American troops have accomplished what everyone said is impossible. 16 of 18 original measures have been met and the goverment is working now together to rebuild Iraq. It is not perfect. There are still disagreements, but they are now settling them with discussions and debates, not rockets and AK-47s. Our trooops brought everyone together and are forming a government based upon Rule of Law. The Iraqi people have never experience such freedom and respect in their lives from their own soldiers and government. If our troops are allowed to stay, finsih the job and complete their mission. We will have for the first time in the Middle East a strong ally that is a representative government of the people. A place where women have an opportunity to grow, mature, get a good education and take care of their family. You'd think that would make liberals happy. These are fantastic accomplishments despite what all the far left say. Europe was difficult. Many in Europe were dissatisfied at first after Germany was defeated. There were critics then too. This has been much worse. Yet, in only 5 years, roughly the same time as WWII, we've stood up a nation with representative government that was ruled and oppressed with fear and terror. And if we stand firm today, stand with McCain, then Iraqis and the Middle East have a great chance to Truly "CHANGE" their part of the world. This is real Hope, real Change. Not the fake sloganeering kind that just leaves tyrants killing, destroying, pillaging and oppressing their people. It is not easy, great sacrifices were made by our troops and their families. All the more reason they should be allowed to complete their mission and bring a new ally of liberty and freedom to the world. This is not the time to give up and elect a defeatist, an appeaser and an inexperienced candidate. This is the time to be thankful for the nation we do live in, thankful for our troops and all their sacrifices keeping us safe and thankful we have a man like John McCain to lead us today. A man with proven knowledge and leadership in war, was correct on the change of strategy and called for it very early on. A man that has experience working with all sides and is a reformer. A man that no other enemy dare test or will be found wanting. McCain/Palin 08. True Hope for the worlds oppressed, true Change for Washington DC reform. gatewaypundit.blogspot.com
