Not really the same. There were benefits to the tech boom and there were clearly excesses.

Overall science and technology are additive to human kind.

There were no benefits to the U.S. finance boom, IMO, but the maturation of economies in the EM world bodes well for global finance in the long-run and those countries' growth prospects.
