You need to take a much longer view. Below is more along the lines of my life. It's a look at the marginal rates for the highest tax bracket...taxes on the wealthy. You'll notice the lowering of taxes began in earnest during Reagan's terms, and that precipitated our national debt getting out of control. Then in the Bush Sr years, they were really low, but he RAISED taxes. Then you'll notice that the deficits began in precisely the year when rates got lowered by Bush and his Republican Congress. And now, our debt has doubled in the last 8 years. Look, this isn't rocket science and it's not socialism. We're living beyond our means. We need to either raise taxes or lower spending. These socialism charges ignore a long history of progressive taxation in the US.
