Some interesting Observations !

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

Abraham Lincoln

It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats --- yet they are still disadvantaged ...

.the nation's wealth is redistributed no matter which party gains control.

That's very true.

As we just experienced, wealth was redistributed upward to the more wealthy

That is completely false. The redistribution was from the wealthy to the less wealthy.

Redistributing upward would imply taxes that where much higher for the poor and middle class (in absolute dollar terms not just as a percentage), and government benefits that focus on the wealthy. Neither happened recently.

And we didn't even get "less redistribution", because (at least until the current economic slowdown) the wealthy where paying a larger and larger percentage of the tax burden every year. So we got more redistribution away from the wealthy.

Your incorrectly conflating "the rich are richer" with "the rich have more redistributed to them by the government", but they are two totally separate ideas, and in fact the more the rich (as a class) get richer the more they tend to get wealth redistributed away from them.
