Immigrants are not particularly demonized in the US. Illegal immigration is attacked, but thats not the same as anti-immigrant sentiment per se. The threat that sentiment against illegal immigration could spill over to legal immigration is one of the problems with out of control illegal immigration.

We need to stop being so anti-immigrant. Ultimately, everyone will see that this will be the only viable solution to our pending medicare and social security entitlements. I'm certainly not anti-immigrant. But I am against immigrants who have no desire to actually become US citizens and integrate into the society. These are people who have an exploitive mentality. Take what they can get and export it back home to improve their family's quality of life THERE, not here. And it's perfectly understandable since the average Mexican worker is lucky to make $10/day, let alone $10/hour. They are the kind of people who "rent" this society, not own it. They feel little loyalty to the US, or it's ideals. For those who wish to remain in the US and make new lives for themselves and their descendants.. "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free..." But, by god, don't let me see a Mexican flag waving at these immigrant rallies while they are protesting their treatment by the US government. And I agree about SS and medicare.. The one advantage this country has is that it's been willing to take in the multitude of people dreaming of a better life and willing to leave their homelands behind. And it something that will guarantee that our population and taxpayer base expands while others contract (eg: Japan). But we need people who have skills that can readily integrate them into the workforce. Hawk

Mindmeld.. Obama's Aunt has been an illegal alien here for the past 4 years. Obama's such a smart guy, but apparently he didn't know about his loving Aunt's status, or the conditions she was living in.. gulf-daily-news.com She was also told that she couldn't talk to anyone until after the election.. I wonder who told her that, and why? Were you in Obama's situation, and having the close relationship he claimed to have with his Aunt, could you realistically claim you didn't know about her illegal status?? And even if you could you didn't know, wouldn't that be indicative of a level of falseness in his personality. Hawk
