The correct way to understand is as follows. According to theology, man was created in God's image. That doesn't mean that humans look like God, it means they have one quality that other organisms don't possess. That quality is self awareness. That is what is known as the soul. Various heretics now claim that some unique pattern of DNA makes humans god-like even though pretty much every plant or animal has a unique pattern of DNA. So, the answer is, a fetus which is unaware is not yet a person. A conjoined twin is part of a pair of awareness, and therefore part of a pair of people. A person whose brain is cut such that they gain two personality is doubly blessed with two souls after the operation. Now repent the errors of your ways. TP
