Adam Smith also coined the phrase "the invisible hand," which IIRC you never accepted as a valid justification for a free market system. I think you were more concerned with power getting consolidated in the hands of the few, and since that's supposedly inevitable in a free market system (it isn't, but that's another debate), we should instead rely on government to "level the playing field."
