I saw a video piece on the tube earlier today showing that people who were trying to vote early yesterday had to wait in line for up to 6 hours.

That's nuts -- what's going to happen on Tuesday if you have to wait 6 hours before the real crowds show up?

The establishment supposedly put a man on the moon almost 40 years ago, but they still haven't developed a system to vote? Yikes.

You know, a suspicious or cynical person might believe that the establishment doesn't care whether you vote or not. And how would that work, you may ask? Well, maybe they don't really count the votes at all, and instead just hold a backroom auction for cash amongst a small handful of power brokers to see who will be declared the winners -- I mean, who'd be the wiser if the selections were made by highest bid rather than most votes? Under such a system, the pomp and circumstance of today's election process would still be needed, but only as elaborate theatre designed to perpetuate the public myth of choice and random outcome.

And what grand theatre it is, or now that I think a bit further about it, it's really much more like a WWE wrestling smackdown, where the main event of this year's card is a constantly televised no-holds-barred tag team match between the bitter but colorful opponents Blackman & Gabby vs. The Old Man & The MILF -- now that's a hit Reality TV show concept if ever I heard of one
