Said well-----social security and medicare have been the election issue that always get used to frighten people-----even since it was instituted.

Have you heard of The Townsend Party? Towsend's Party was a party that was first called the Old People's Party in the 1930's-----a predecessor to the Social Security Act.

At one time the party had about 2 million older Americans, gradually as Townsend failed to get what he envisioned the party faded out.
