Two examples come to mind fast.

Marijuana policy.

In 1979 Michigan passed it's first medical marijuana law. The Michigan senate passed the law by a vote of 100 to 0. The way that the law was structured, the federal government was to supply the marijuana for Michigan medical patients. The federal government sent one shipment. Then notified the state that the shipment had been tainted with biological pathogens.

The law expired. No patients ever received their legal medicine.

Today a very consistent 70 to 80 percent of US voters would allow a doctor to prescribe marijuana.

The republicans have failed to educate the voters that they are wrong. They have attempted this education process, instead of siding with the public.

The war in Iraq.

Foreign spending policy is out of control. The vast majority of the voters are fed up with what is taking place in Iraq. Foreign policy is the main reason for GWB's low public rating.

In Afghanistan, much effort is being used to eradicate poppy fields and now marijuana crops. This contributes to the huge waste of our limited finantial resources. And destroys a primary source of income for local farmers.

These two war fronts are killing the dollar. Voters would much rather see the money spent here. Instead our government seems hell bent on pissing our money away in areas of the world for what voters see as no gain at all.

Again the republicans have failed in the attempt to educate the voter into accepting the notion that they are incorrect in their perceptions.

These are major areas. The republicans seem determined to ignore the voter.

So the voter will ignore the republicans.
