You can't ALWAYS be unlucky. Maybe it will all be back to normal in 4 years, but I kind of hope not.

Another parallel is Quayle, who was on a winning ticket then a losing ticket, then couldn't get the nomination himself in '96 because a more senior party guy did, Dole. That could easily happen in 2012 to Palin.

But we generally agree that VP choices on losing tickets don't have much clout later on.
