I've never understood revenue sharing. Why send the money to Washington to have them send it back with strings attached? If you want control over local infrastructure projects or to employ more people, do it yourself.

The only utility I can see in revenue sharing is in times of recession given that the feds can deficit spend and localities can't spend money they don't have.

But then you still have to determine how much to dole out to whom? How would you do that? Per capita to states like Mankiw? Or what?
