Yes the forward guidance for most of these companies is "pitiful". I have been keeping track of some of the forward looking statements, but before putting the entire picture together, I'll have to wait for the quarterly reports to finish which will take another 2 to 3 weeks.

<<Only question I have is this the bottom? When 4th Qtr GDP figures come out will a new round of panic selling set in?>>

Picking the absolute bottom is always a tough one. We may not be at the "absolute" bottom like those seen in 98 and 02, but we should be getting close. On the other hand, as pointed out previously, this past week was very strong to the upside. Depending on many factors that will come to light in the next few weeks, we may have seen the bottom. Let's hope so.

Hi Don and cluha,

With Klac's horrible earnings and guidance what is up with their price action going up?

This once again remarkably reminds me of 98.

I remember Cohu hoping to break even in Q4 98 and they went up as orders built.

No one knew orders built until February of 99.

It was only known if you were intuitive.

That's very little to hang your hat on.

Valuations are also similar.

Bottom line - these companies have been here before.

They horde cash to get through the trough valuations.

Then out of the blue, business changes and price is already up 20% before any one even knows the worst is over.
