An old friend of mine is a diehard Obamaphile. When we talk about the campaign, he's sadly uninformed, I think perhaps willfully. It's all emotional, says the Republicans deserve a lesson.

Sounds like my family. They all live in Michigan (I don't), a sadly economically depressed state. Aside from my father, whose support for Obama derives largely from his NYT-fueled hatred of George Bush and his administration, the rest are willfully ignorant of the issues. They don't watch TV, even network news (forget cable), read even liberal newspapers or newsmagazines or get info on the internet. Their support of Obama is more of knee-jerk support for the guy with the (D) behind his name.

If they think times are tough for them in Michigan now, just wait for two years into an Obama administration.
