The GOP has never owned up to our societies debt to the African American community for 200 years of slavery and 100 years of segregation and discrimination and the damage they did to said community. Conservatives say, "I didn't do it". They never quite get the fact they live in a society and their society did it! Affirmative action is not only the fair thing to do for the minorities discriminated against, it is also good for the society as a whole, as it strengthens society. I find nothing appealing in the conservative ideology. It is outdated and should just be thrown out and replaced with something a bit more sophisticated. And certainly more compassionate and decent.
