Palin, the GOP-ites, claim is mobilizing the GOP base (base because they consider that demographic very "base" - derogatorily referring to them as hockey moms and joe sixpack etc..). Palin is just a carnival side-show. She's basically not qualified and many fear here religious fundamentalist ideas. The moderate swing voters are being moved to Obama partly because of Palin. We see deterioration of McCain in the polls in the battle ground states starting after he chose her.
