Nonsense....it was not deregulation but bad regulation which has caused this crisis.....typical liberal do-goodism gone bad...(again).

Historically, racist redlining was begun by FDR's FHA. Leave private lenders alone and they won't pass up good loan opportunities. Later Democrats in the 1990's purposefully eroded lending standards, driving FNM and FRE out of business, supposedly to fix the result of policies Democrats in an earlier generation created. Who ran FNM into the ground? James Johnson, Franklin Raines, JAmie Gorelick, Herb Moses, Roger Mudd's sons - all politically connected to Demcorats.
