The funny thing about absurd non-issue distractions like the birth certificate is that they entrance McCain's supporters to the point of blinding them to the issues that are working against their own candidate, and have a proven zero-level of traction with the swing voters that the McCain crowd believes will be won over by them.

Basically, they are guns that blow up in your hands when they are fired in this election. Hence McCain's rise in unfavorables since August from 34% to 42%. The 8% he lost could well be the margin in this election.

I know it's a pain. But I don't get very far with that argument when bureaucrats ask to see mine. Course it's my right not to produce it but then I would have automatically given the privilege I was asking for. A privilege much less consequential than POTUS.

Actually, a Federal Court has never ordered me to produce mine so maybe I DON'T have an absolute right not to produce it on demand.
