The goal of repeating ridiculous charges incessantly is simply to give them weight through the sheer power of repetition. It's a trick the mind plays, if it hears something often enough the doubts about it being false go up. But as I noted with Karen, in this case the only mesmerizing effect was on McCain supporters who continue to chase red herrings 24 hours before an election which will not be about birth certificates, preachers, or any of the rest of the nonsense. And if it goes as expected, they will howl in rage tomorrow that the evil media let them down by not pursuing their obsessions. The sheer repetition of the mantras in their closed loop world will reinforce that they could not have lost legitimately, even if they did. It's a transparent and frankly sad trick they are playing on themselves.
