Shrub is so far below Carter he couldn't find him with the Hubble. We can go on for another thousand years, and nobody will have done it worse than the Shrub. Even if they try their hardest. What will that make him? Shrub,the 166th best president of all time?

Nope...that would be the sort of position that one lacking in personal integrity such as yourself would undertake....as for myself I can see Bush's positive and negative aspects....and the title of "worst President in history" (and ex-president for that matter) is still held by Jimmy Carter... There are certainly worse presidents than either Bush or Carter. But true history doesn't get written for years after a presidency, and frequently, history's view changes radically when people take another look years down the road. There are three events on which the history of Bush's eight years will turn -- - 9/11 and the ensuing War on Terror; - Katrina; and - The Mortgage Crisis. If Obama mucks up the War on Terror, it will be charged to Obama, since Bush prevented any further attacks and handed Obama a win in Iraq. Mistakes were made, but history will judge Bush based on the outcome. Katrina was substantially a local failure -- Nagin and Blanco. While locals felt that FEMA should have been there immediately, the reality is that that would have required a response to the crisis that couldn't reasonably have been expected. Hell, two days after the hurricane Blanco was demanding the president send "5000 buses". That's an insane expectation. Once again, when the early, liberal histories that exist today fade away, what will be remembered is that Bush's response to the crisis was reasonable in the circumstances. Chertoff made some really serious errors, but Russell Honoree was sent in by Bush to solve a very difficult problem and he did so with unbelievable efficiency. The Mortgage Crisis would never have happened had it not been for Democrats forcing lenders to give loans to unqualified individuals. Bush's mistakes are significant -- but these three items are the legacy of his presidency and all were either beyond Bush's control or were resolved in a way that history will remember favorably for Bush.
