Seriously, the author of the article failed to make his point, I think....whatever his point was. It all comes down to a willingness to save. The fact is that there have never been more tax-advantaged ways for people to save than there are now. It seems to me that the only real advantage the older generation had, which is gone now, is the company paid retirement health benefit. That usually represents a substantial amount of money.

The other difference is the decline of good paying blue collar jobs that kids could walk right out of high school into during the 30s, 40s, and through the 60s.
