Oil is fungible so whoever we buy it from makes not much difference except for the quality of the oil.

I agree to with the point, but in the context of someone raising a point about how we spend $700bil on "oil from the Arabs"/"oil from the Middle East"/"oil from terrorist backers" etc.

its not a very relevant point. We don't enrich Middle Eastern countries by $700bil or even $280bil a year by what we spend for oil.
